Christi Playford

aspiring magical author

Christi Playford is a novelist who loves making up wild and wondrous stories filled with magic, old Victorian houses, and nature. She loves to write books that empower women, incorporate diversity, and are LGBTQ inclusive. Themes that are especially dear to her heart include: following your dreams, using your voice, and experiencing love for exactly who you are.

As an Enneagram 4 and INFP, Christi has a whole lot of emotions, thinks deeply, and enjoys 1-on-1 conversations. She prefers to be fueled by tea, coffee, or Moscow Mules (and perhaps a Culver’s Concrete Mixer or two—Reeses and vanilla please!). When she’s not reading, writing, or bullet journaling, you can find Christi snapping pictures, hand lettering, or dancing.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christi spent her college years in Ohio and graduated with a BA in Graphic Design. She then moved to China for a couple years where she taught English to 8th and 11th graders. Now she resides in the Twin Cities once more with her husband of five years.

Writing has always been a part of Christi’s life, but only recently has she begun to pursue it full-time. In 2019, she graduated from The Story Magic Academy created and taught by Rachael Stephen where she learned to effectively use the Plot Embryo to structure her stories. She’s successfully won NaNoWriMo two years in a row, and is in the process of turning her latest draft into her debut novel.
